Synthesis of Hackman and Oldham’s (1976) Job Characteristics and Employees’ Psychological States. The well-developed Job Characteristic Model by Hackman and Oldham (1976), which superseded the Two-Factor theory (Garg, 2006), says that the task itself provide motivation to employees. There are five main intrinsic job characteristics and three physiological states in Hackman and Oldham (1976) model and are given below –

Hackman motivation

This is the question that Hackman and Oldham tackle in their Job Characteristics model of m Hackman JR, Oldham GR. Motivation through the design of work: Test of a theory. Organizational Behavior and Human Performance. 1976;16 :250-279. In 1980, Hackman and Oldham presented the final form of the Job Characteristics Theory in their book Work Redesign. The main changes included the addition of two more moderators- Knowledge and Skill and Context Satisfaction, removal of the work outcomes of absenteeism and turnover, and increased focus on Internal Work Motivation.

Jobbkarakteristikamodeller er en fellesbetegnelse for teorier som baseres på at nøkkelen til ansattes motivasjon er å finne i selve jobben og jobbsituasjonen. Det teoretiska ramverket som studien tillämpar berör motivationsteorier enligt: Ryan & Deci, Maslow, Herzberg et al samt Hackman & Oldham. Teorierna bekräftas utifrån den insamlade empirin. Det förekommer således inre och yttre motivation hos funktionärerna i föreningen.
